How much will my project cost?

Every project is different. Unfortunately, there is no set project evaluation standard since many factors can influence price: size and quantity of the images, if colour is required, the amount of research involved, the quality of the documentation provided, technical considerations, travel, etc. Basically, there are two approaches: an hourly rate (currently $50/hr) or a fixed price. The advantage of choosing a fixed price is that you will know how much your project will cost beforehand, but it is usually more expensive since we cannot foresee what modifications will need to be made to the drawing.

What are the development phases?

1) The first step is to make one or several sketches. This will give you an idea of what your drawing will look like. It is often the longest, as we need to clearly put down on paper what you have in mind. Do not hesitate to tell us what you think. It is much easier to modify a sketch than a final drawing!

2) Once you have approved this step, we will render the drawing in either ink or pencil. This is the final step before colouring. Unless something major was left out, few changes will be made at this stage.

3) Depending on the project, the last step is to add colour. We offer 6 finishes. The choice you make may affect your budget.

  • Black and white;
  • Flats in grayscale;
  • Shaded (monochrome);
  • Coloured flats;
  • Shaded colors;
  • Vectorization (if required, depending on use)

Do I need to provide documentation?

If you can provide documentation, that would be a BIG plus. Although we can draw almost anything, we need information on subjects we are less familiar with. For example: it is much easier for us to find information on a recent car model than on the natural predator of a corn parasite in Guatemala! As a general rule, the more documentation you provide, the less research we need to do. Help us keep your research and documentation budget down!

How should I communicate with my project leader?

Ideally, there should only be one official contact person for all communications. If more than one person has a say in the matter, please have the contact person take note of all comments and then inform the Le Mille-Pattes project leader. Believe us, this helps keep interpretation and communication problems to a minimum!

We prefer sending all project information by e–mail. It’s quick, sketches are easy to approve this way and most importantly, there is a record of all correspondences. This way, we can know what decisions are being made at all times and can go back and check if there is a misunderstanding. This does not mean that we cannot communicate by phone. For all "official" requests, however, e-mail is the best means of ensuring that nothing is left out.

Do I need to make a deposit?

If possible, we would appreciate a third of the total payment at the beginning of the project, a third during development (upon delivery of the sketches, for example) and the final third at the end of the project, once the final files have been delivered. All invoices are payable upon receipt. Interest of 2% per month will be charged on overdue accounts.

What payment methods do you accept?
